As we head into our 20^th fishing season here at QCL, we're all really looking forward to another great summer. We take great pride in the quality of fishing adventure vacation that our guests enjoy every year. We all work hard to ensure that our guests have a great time and return home feeling they've spent a few splendid days with friends in this incredible part of the world. We know that our staff play a key role in making this happen and we are grateful to them for the excellent work they do. As in any business, training and support of staff goes hand in hand with recognition and remuneration.

Over the course of the summer, managers find many and varied ways to achieve this. Even after 19 years we're still learning better ways to keep staff enthusiastic. Our normal compliment of staff numbers around 75 each summer with roughly half of them returning year over year. They come from all over but most call BC their home. Many are students in colleges or universities across the country. Others have adopted a seasonal lifestyle, making the most of the "freedom years" between school and "real life", working and traveling all over the world. It definitely makes for an interesting mix. "The Lodge" is about the day to day trials and tribulations of the staff, the people that make it happen for our guests.

Over the years we've hired hundreds of excellent young people who've come up to the lodge to spend a summer, working together to provide great hospitality for QCL guests. Living out on the edge of the Pacific wilderness for 3 1/2 months is not for everybody, particularly young people who are accustomed to being electronically "connected" at all times! (No cell phone service and only limited internet via satellite here!) Sometimes they discover after they've arrived that this is not for them. Sometimes we make that discovery!   It's always a work in progress but the measuring stick is always the same. Ensure that our guests have a great time during their stay with us and send them home making plans to return!
