Bob Izumi greets JP at ICAST 2009.Well, another year has come and gone and what a show it was in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center, home to iCast 2009. iCast is where the vast majority of industry manufactures gather to showcase their latest products and it's the perfect place to get the low down from both the makers and the users for the coming season of Getting School'd.

Mike Iaconellion the WFN set at ICAST 2009.We arrived Monday to shoot some scenic video and used Tuesday to do some on camera shots before the show opened on Wednesday. Once we got in there we went right to work finding the biggest names and the coolest products to bring to video for our viewers and this year was an absolute home run!!! We had Mike Iaconelli, Marty Stone, Byron Velvick, Kevin Van Dam, Gerald Swindle, Scott Martin, Bobby Lane, John Crews, Ish Monroe, Matt Newman, Shaw Grigsby, Dave Mercer, Dave Wolak, Dean Rojas, Chris Lane, Boyd Duckett, Fred Roumbanis, Kotaro Kiryama, Grant Koppers, Chad Morganthaler, Greg Hackney and Carey Bever to name a few! It was incredible to see how all of these anglers are truly as professional as it gets and it is no wonder that they are at the top of their games.
On the product front there were a ton of great products but here is a quick recap to tease everyone a bit... Shimano Ci4 Stradic and Core 50mg reels, Shimano Cumara Reaction rods, G-Loomis frog rods, Laser Tro-Kar hooks, Rapala Max Rap, Jackall Bros Super Pin Tail Minnow, Fin-Tech Monster Swimbait hook, Berkley Trilene Tran-Optic line, Tru-Tungsten 5" Tru-Life swimbait, Strike King's Flaming Rooster and Baby King Shad, Minnkotas new GPS controlled Trolling motor, IMA Roumba Wake, Live Target's Pumpkinseed, Spro's Little John DD, Snag Proof's Phat Frog, Sunline's new Fluorocarbon and Lucky Craft's new Silent Pointer.... these are just a few off the top of my head with a bunch more to be featured on the show this coming fall!!!
All that's left now is to finish the on the water segments, underwater segments, studio shoots and product close ups.. man I better get to work...3 months and counting!!!
Tight lines and long weekends

Pretty cool seeing the pic of you and Bob Izumi. Had the chance to meet him and the late Warren Duncan (whom I had met previously) at the Saint John Boat show in the early 90's. Bob was so personable and set the standard pretty high for other professionals to meet the "Average Joe" and talk about any and all topics 'fishing' that we recorded all of his shows on VHS. Very happy to see that is an attitude and idea carried on. J.P. your show is the one I record now, on DVD!!!Write a Comment
