Hookin' Up in Philadelphia

I knew nothing about Philly except that I was aware of their trademark Philly cheese steaks. That's it. So my time in the city of brotherly love was super cool because everything was new to me!

After finding out what my challenges were, I mostly set out to eat as many different delicious things as I could cram in my stomach before going home --- not just because I love food, but because it was actually one of my challenges! It's fair to say that I wholeheartedly accepted this challenge.

In the few days we were there, I managed to eat two kinds of Philly cheese steaks, an entire feast of fresh and authentic Italian food, the best cookie I've ever had (toffee chip and chocolate chunk!!), sushi (from a restaurant called "Izumi"!!), and a platter of desserts (including pumpkin ice cream and freshly made waffles!!). Needless to say, I was one satisfied girl.

Now, you'd think I was so busy eating all this food that I wouldn't have time for anything else…but…that's not true! I also visited, Little Al's, a local tourney and entered myself as a competitor for the day and had a good time even though it was a really cold and windy day. Although I didn't do so well, my new buddy Anthony Marsico won the tourney and kindly invited us over to his family's restaurant for dinner (hence the "feast of fresh and authentic Italian food" I mention above). http://themarsico.net/

In addition to my pigging out and tourney visit, I did something that I thought I would never do - re-inacting. If you don't know what I'm talking about go to http://www.historicsoldiersweekend.com/  and you'll understand. It was the Historic Soldiers Weekend and I ended up having a really fun time. I shot about 6 different kinds of period guns and dressed up as a German - and we all know how much I like to dress up! I enjoyed learning about the traditions, clothing, shelter and weapons of the past and would recommend it to anyone looking to learn a thing or two about history.

It was great having you visit Philly! We hope you come by again. We picked up vintage(1930's) fishing tackle for you to try out.
