Fishing from Bridges

Carl from rockford writes:

Hi, Henry,

Great TV Show, I need to know the rods and reels to use for saltwater fishing with live bait off piers, jetties, beaches, etc

Thanks, Carl

Henry replies:

Thanks for the nice comments on the TV Series Carl.

If you are fishing from piers, docks, and jetties, you need a stiffer rod in the heavy action class and a quality reel with a good drag system so you can hold and prevent the fish from getting you wrapped up in things.

When you are dealing with open water and beach areas, you want to go to medium heavy or medium action rods, and you can go lighter with your line as their is usually no trouble to get into. The line difference would be like 20 lb on the beach and 40 lb braid in heavy cover.
