Grand River & Lake Erie are Hot for Smallies!

Locksley from Whitby writes:

Hello Henry,

I was wondering if you can send me in the right direction towards some quality fishing locations that are in or around the greater toronto area. Within 2 hrs drive. I have a boat and i fish for every species preferably smallies. But also wouldnt mind looking for some pike.

Henry replies:

Hello Locksley:

I am not sure what size of boat you have but Lake Erie at the mouth by the Peace River has been hot that last little while, fish 15 to 25 feet of water using your electric or a drift sock to slow you drift and have more control on you presentation but if you can get a hold of a kayak or canoe, take a trip on the Grand River from Paris to Brantford, what a great experience to catch smallmouth. The average size fish is about 12 to 13 inches with good opportunities to catch 18" to 20" fish. Fly fishing under a strike indicator works or a spinning rod drop shot rig using a 3 inch gulp minnow.

Catch a bIg One!
