Supporting the Hull and Laying the Floor

This is a great picture of how the transom is supported. You can see how the inner side walls run up through three frames to tie in the hull.

This is the next step that I took. You can see the inner part of the hull has been sprayed with foam which adds major strength to the hull. After the foam comes the lower floor. This floor is framed with white ash and then covered with mahogany. I used quarter inch for the areas in the compartments and half where you walk and where the seating area is.

This picture shows where I started building the upper deck. Here you can see the road storage on the sides with tubs built in the hold the rods. The front centers are for tackle, fishing net, jackets and other boating supplies.

You've got to be happy about this new boat. Looks like you are putting all your many wants in this one, especially storage to keep thing "out of the way while running"

Hi, I'm Dean Franklin and I would like to share with you my new boat I am building online so every one can see how it is done.

My wife, Cindy and I, have been married 21 years and we both love tournament fishing. After we were married we decided that fishing was going to be a huge part of our life so we needed to have a boat. I am a carpenter by trade so I said why don't I build us one. We set out looking for plans for a bass boat and we found some that we liked. The one we chose was an 18' ski-bass boat with live wells and all the right things we needed to fish tournaments.

We built this boat and we were on our way to our dream of fishing pro bass and getting out on weekends and meeting all kinds of people. From this point on we started to fish larger areas of waters that involved running out in Lake Erie, Lake St Clair and Detroit River.

Now I have become to enjoy building boats so I am starting another one. I have been looking around, taking ideas from a lot of boats (mainly hull designs) and talking to some race boat guys. This new boat is going to be something of my own creation with a lot of ideas brought together to customize our new boat to the standards we require. Fast, smooth, light and still a bass boat.

I hope every one will enjoy seeing this one go together step by step. Feel free to contact me any time with questions along the way.
