Why fish my hometown?: River Smallies!!

Viewed: 76 times
My hometown of Waterloo Ontario offers many great reasons to want to fish and visit. Stable summer weather, K-W Oktoberfest and of course Southern Ontario River Smallmouth!  These fish are resilient and rarely disappoint. They are plentiful and aggressive. River Smallies can be caught by utilizing the majority of angling tactics available and that is what makes them so appealing to the masses...

My Region: Kayak fishing for post-spawn Lake Huron pike

Viewed: 478 times
Spring came about a month early in Southern Ontario, and so did the ice out Northern Pike fishing.  Most regions of Ontario have closed seasons for pike after March 31st, but Lake Huron is one of the exceptions.  I was out on Lake Ontario March 9th trying for some early spawners, but it was just a bit too early then.  Mid April to early May tends to be the window in normal years. New Rapala Trolls-To-20

Viewed: 149 times

User Profile

Name: Jeff Wall
Waterloo, ON
I am an avid steelhead fisherman and kayak angler in Southern Ontario, hailing from Waterloo. Growing up in a fishing family close to Lake Huron/Georgian Bay with the Maitland River in my backyard, has always kept fishing as an early learned and frequently re-visited activity.

My favourite species and methods are but not limited to; flyfishing/topwater for smallmouth and floatfishing for Niagara steelhead.

Fishing is a passion and a business for me, and I feel very lucky being able to combine the two!

I operate Nomad Adventure Company, a business that specializes in guided migratory trout and salmon river fishing but more specifically, Niagara River Steelhead. Being an adventure fishing business, we also operate guided kayak fishing with trips and tours in Central, Northern and Southern Ontario. Nomad Adventures hosts several kayak fishing tournaments, seminars and clinics. We are proud to present the Ontario Kayak Fishing Series and River Smallies tournaments in 2010.

I look forward to sharing my views and experiences with the WFN readership.

Hope to see you on the water!
